What To Do In A Crisis

If you are in a life or death situation, immediately call 911.

Douglas County Mental Health offers a 24-Hour Crisis Line. Clinically trained staff are available to speak with you and assist in the event of a mental health emergency.

If your emergency is during business hours, call (217) 253-4731 to and inform the receptionist you are experienceing a mental health crisis. A counselor will be made immediately available to you.

If your emergency is after-hours, call the Crisis Line at (217) 253-3511.

Be aware that the dispatcher from the Douglas County Sheriff's Department answers this number. They will take your name and phone number, and immediately contact the counselor on call who will then call you back directly.
